The CSES PTA Cultural Arts Program provides enrichment to the MCPS curriculum by exposing our students to a variety of cultural arts topics via cultural arts assemblies and an artist-in-residence Program.

Cultural Arts Assemblies

Students attend 4-5 assembly performances throughout the school year. These cultural arts’ performers provide education and inspiration to our students in numerous subject areas. Parents are always welcome to attend the assemblies For scheduling info, check out our PTA calendar.

Here are some of the programs presented over the years:

  • Multi-Instrumentalist Curtis Blues: "The African Roots of American Music"

  • A-Cappella singing group “Green Envy”

  • Mary Ann Jung of History Alive! presented "Clara Barton, Red Cross Angel"

  • Mindfulness Assemblies presented by expert Laurie Cameron

  • Adventure Theatre ATC Anti-Bullying Plays

  • Cello Fury, History Alive!

  • Reptile World

Artist-in-Residence Program

Every year, the PTA hosts an Artist-in-Residence program which provides longer-term enrichment to our students. This program focuses on one segment of the student population or the entire student body. In past years, the PTA has welcomed artists, poets, storytellers, authors, and musicians.
